    Quick answer

Barakkat Rouge 540 is Fragrance World's take on Baccarat Rouge 540. It comes in two versions. The Extrait is the closer match to the famous red bottle. The EDP is the lighter, everyday option.

Baccarat Rouge 540 is one of the most famous perfumes of the last ten years. It is also expensive. That is why so many people search for Barakkat Rouge 540.

Here is what each one is, and how they compare.

    First, the original

Francis Kurkdjian made Baccarat Rouge 540 for the crystal house Baccarat's 250th anniversary. The "540" is the temperature at which Baccarat crystal is made.

The Extrait de Parfum is the red bottle. It launched in 2017. The brand lists jasmine, saffron, bitter almond, Cashmeran, Ambroxan and an ambergris accord. It is richer and warmer than the regular EDP.

This is the newer, stronger version. Its note list mirrors the red bottle almost line for line: bitter almond and saffron up top, then cedar and jasmine, then woody notes, ambergris and musk.

If you love the almond and saffron opening of the original Extrait, start here.

The original Barakkat. Retailers list jasmine and saffron on top, amber and resin in the middle, and amber with cedar at the base.

It is lighter and airier. A great daily wear pick if you like the style but want something easy.

    What reviewers say

Reviewers mostly agree the Barakkat is close, but not the same.

    • The review site PickMyClone says the EDP has similar notes with less blending, a stronger saffron, and about 4 to 6 hours of wear.
    • A shopper review on the retailer Anabis called it almost identical, but with a weaker hold.

Your skin and weather will change how any scent performs, so treat these as a guide.

    Which one should you get?

    • Want the red bottle vibe: Barakkat Extrait
    • Want an easy daily scent: Barakkat EDP
    • Can't decide: the Extrait is the stronger of the two

    FAQ

Is Barakkat Rouge 540 a dupe of Baccarat Rouge 540?

It is sold as an alternative inspired by it. It is made by Fragrance World, not Maison Francis Kurkdjian, and it is a different formula.

What is the difference between Baccarat Rouge 540 EDP and Extrait?

The Extrait adds a bitter almond and saffron opening and is more intense. The EDP is lighter.

Is Barakkat Rouge 540 an Extrait or EDP?

Both. Fragrance World makes a Barakkat Rouge 540 EDP and a separate Barakkat Rouge 540 Extrait.
